The Ball is Rolling!

Since starting this coalition the support has been fantastic. The Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills has signed on to put information about the coalition on their Web site asking their parishioners to pick and bring fruit and drop it off before masses at a designated area that the church will post.
These donations of fruit will be picked by the Los Angeles Mission on Monday, and distribute equally among the Los Angeles Mission, Union Mission and the St. Vincent de Paul Center in the Los Angeles area.

The PTA of El Rodeo Grammar School in Beverly Hills is also very excited about the coalition and has agreed to continuous participation in this cause.

Los Angeles Mission Signs On!

I have contacted the Los Angeles and Union Missions in Downtown Los Angeles and asked them if I could get the residents of Beverly Hills to donate and collect this excess fruit and would they be interested in receiving it. They were overwhelmed by this idea and told me that they are feeding more men, women and children than ever before because of our terrible economy. They even volunteered to use their trucks to pick up this needed fruit. I have already picked boxes of oranges, tangerines, grapefruits and lemons and delivered them to the LA Mission last week. They were so happy to receive the fruit and asked me to keep this coalition going because it really benefits the people they feed. The PTA of El Rodeo Grammar School in Beverly Hills and the Church of the Good Shepherd has also signed on to help fruit delivered to their locations so that we can have this fruit picked up and delivered to the missions and food banks in the local areas. Please join in and help in your neighborhoods. What a wonderful way to help our needy!

How it all began

Within our beautiful city we have an abundance of fruit trees that are bearing oranges, lemons, grapefruits and tangerines that will otherwise go to waste. Imagine if all this fruit could be collected and donated to the needy. What a wonderful way our residents could help the people in need without any financial cost to them. I am asking all of you to join this cause and provide nutritious fruit to people in need.
